An evening class, in person, that teaches everything on the FAA private pilot written test (a multiple-choice exam). You need to pass that test before your checkride, your final test with an FAA examiner.

01What you learn
Six weeks,three parts.
Everything on the FAA private pilot written test, in 18 classes over 6 weeks.
Weeks 1–2
The airplane and the airspace
How an airplane flies, and how its engine, systems and instruments work. The rules for pilots and airplanes. The kinds of airspace, and where you may fly.
Weeks 3–4
Weather, charts and airports
Reading weather reports and forecasts. Reading aviation maps, called sectional charts. How airports work. Working out takeoff distance, weight and balance.
Weeks 5–6
Planning a flight, and the test
Planning a flight to another airport. Handling emergencies and making safe decisions. A review of the rules, and practice tests.
02How the class works
Class, homework,then your sign-off.
In class
Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, 6–9 PM. Your instructor teaches the topic, works through examples with the class, and goes over test questions.
Between classes
Online lessons, reading, worksheets and practice questions, assigned in our student portal.
Your sign-off
The FAA asks for an instructor’s sign-off before you take the written test. Come to class, finish the homework and pass two practice tests, and your instructor signs you off.

Questions
About theclass.
Do I need to start flying first?
No. You can take the class before your first flight lesson or alongside your lessons. Most students take it alongside their first lessons.
When do I pay the rest?
$100 holds your seat when you sign up. The other $699 is due the first night of class: pay before class or when you arrive. The $100 is part of the $799 total.
Is the FAA test fee included?
No. You pay the testing center when you book the FAA written test, about $175. The class gets you ready for it, and it is where you earn the instructor sign-off you need to take it.
Can I join if I fly at another school?
Yes. Students from any flight school are welcome. Keep flying with your instructor there.
Where is the class?
In person, in our classroom at 2550 N Thunderbird Cir Ste 132, Mesa, AZ 85215, at Falcon Field. Each class has up to 12 students.
What happens after the class?
You book the FAA written test at a testing center and take it. A passing result is good for 24 months, and you need it to take your checkride.
