01Your hour

What happensin your hour.

  1. Meet

    You meet your instructor at our office on Falcon Field and talk about what you want from the day.

  2. Brief

    At the table, you go over the controls, the instruments and the plan for the flight.

  3. Preflight

    You walk around the airplane together and do a real preflight inspection.

  4. Fly

    After takeoff you take the controls. Your instructor is beside you the whole time.

  5. Land

    Back to Falcon Field, with your instructor talking you through the approach and landing.

  6. Debrief

    You go over what you did, what training from here looks like, and log the flight.

After you land, we plan the rest together.

If you want to keep going, your instructor builds your Flight Plan with you: the certificates you need in order, a timeline at your pace and a cost estimate. No pressure, and the hour is in your logbook either way.

03Before you come

Good to know.

  • The airplane

    You fly a Piper Warrior or Cessna 172, the same airplanes our students train in.

  • Timing

    An hour in the air with a short briefing before and after. Plan on about 90 minutes with us.

  • Weight

    Small airplanes have weight limits. We ask for weights when you book so your instructor can plan the flight. It stays private.

  • What to bring

    A photo ID, comfortable clothes and sunglasses. We have the headsets.

  • Weather

    We only fly when the weather is safe. If we cancel, we reschedule you at no cost.

  • Changing your date

    Give us 24 hours of notice and rescheduling is free.

  • Do I need any experience?

    None. Your instructor explains everything on the ground first, and flies with you the whole time.

  • Will I actually fly the airplane?

    Yes. After takeoff you take the controls. Your instructor handles anything you are not ready for yet.

  • Does it count toward a pilot certificate?

    Yes. It is a real lesson with a certificated flight instructor, and the time goes in your logbook.

  • Is it safe?

    Your instructor is FAA-certificated, our airplanes are inspected on the FAA schedule, and we only fly when the weather is safe.

  • What if the weather is bad?

    We reschedule you at no cost. Safety decides whether we fly, not the calendar.

  • What happens after the flight?

    If you want to keep going, we build your Flight Plan together: the certificates you need in order, a timeline at your pace and a cost estimate.
